The art of seeing

The art of seeing

The Sanskrit word for philosophy is 'darshan'...
that is 'seeing'.
The ability to see what is,
as is and not what is,
 as what should be,
is an important part of living
.

Why it is so difficult to see what is as is?

Whenever people are tense and seek my advice,
I tell them that their mental tension prevents them from listening.
A tense mind is filled with thoughts.
Then listening is polluted with thoughts.
Invariably there is deleted listening or a distorted listening .

When your seeing is not through an empty mind,
then you don't experience
what is and the fullness of what is.
When you see through a thought, you understand that
thought is an expression of memory and memory
is a representation of a past experience.

From that past you see the present and hence the
 past regrets and expectations
 silently pollute the perception.
 This prevents you from seeing,
what is,
as what is

If you learn the art of seeing a flower or a stone,
from an empty mind, only then you will find the present
as a present. You will find the fullness of what is.
You can't experience the fullness of the present,
as a particular thought with its expectations and
regrets of the past or future pollutes the perception of what is.

You start saying, last year was better and hope the future
is not bitter...with that mind, the present with its fullness,
is not experienced. The present is full,

but thought makes it look incomplete.

When you are really tense,
see and observe how your mind is playing havoc.
Learn to go for a walk,
see the flower or a tree,
 with a silent mind.
You will start learning something very subtle.

How to make life simple?

Life is simple but the mind is complicated.
The mind with its fears and greed, makes one's
 life very complicated.

E go with all its might sits on the throne of one's life.
Dethrone the ego and its general fear and greed.

Understand that ego or fear or greed is a movement of thought.
You are not the thought but a witness to thought.

 Don't identify with such thoughts.
Only then, but slowly, they lose power over you.
Be centered as a witness.
